Frequently Asked Questions

SICOT Membership

I have a question about membership or a problem with my membership and cannot find the answer in the FAQs or on the website. Where can I write?

You can write us at the SICOT Head Office at [email protected] and we will gladly help you.

Why should I join SICOT? What are the benefits?

SICOT is a non-profit world renowned Society focusing on Orthopaedics and Traumatology. The aim of SICOT is to provide information, education and assistance to surgeons by enabling them to access the IO Journal, to get fellowships and stay informed about what is happening and what is new in the Orthopaedics world.

By becoming a SICOT member you will receive the paper version of the IO Journal monthly, be able to access the IO Journal online and for surgeons that are no more than 40 or 45 years of age, they can apply for a SICOT Fellowship. SICOT also has an agreement with CORR and JBJS to enable its members to access their articles for free. By being a SICOT member, you can also register to the congress with lower registration rates.

The IO Journal (https://www.springer.com/journal/264) has a very good impact factor that is getting stronger yearly. The review panel is made up of experts, making this Journal a very good and reliable scientific literature. The aim of the IO Journal is to keep its members informed of what is happening and what is new in the Orthopaedics world.

The Fellowships offered by SICOT are numerous and cover all subspecialties of Orthopaedics. They give the fellows an amazing chance to attend top host centers and get trained further. More details can be found in the “Fellowships” section of our website (http://www.sicot.org/fellowships).

What rate should I pay?

If you are 39 years of age or less, you can apply for an Associate membership. The rate will be of 75 euros yearly (if your country is not listed on our list of the low income countries, this list can be found on our webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot) or of 20 euros yearly (if your country is listed on our list of the low income countries, this list can be found on our webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot).

If you are 39 years of age or less, you can apply for an Active membership, except if you are a student.

If you are 40 years of age or more, you must apply for an Active membership. The rate will be of 150 euros yearly (if your country is not listed on our list of the low income countries, this list can be found on our webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot) or of 50 euros yearly (if your country is listed on our list of the low income countries, this list can be found on our webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot).

More information about our memberships can be found on the webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot

What is the difference between an Associate and an Active membership?

There is no difference between an Associate and an Active membership, apart from the yearly rate. Indeed, SICOT feels that surgeons that are 39 years of age or less are still in the beginning of their career and earning less, and therefore should pay less.

On the contrary, SICOT feels that surgeons that are 40 years of age or more will be better settled in their career and can therefore afford to pay a higher membership rate.

More information about our memberships can be found on the webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot

Can I change from an Associate membership to an Active membership?

If you are an Associate member and wish to become an Active member, you can do so by changing your status on the “Membership Information” tab in your SICOT profile. If you are invited to renew your dues as an Associate member, you can contact the SICOT HO ([email protected]) and we will change the rate in your profile.

When you turn 40 years of age, you will be asked to pay the Active membership.

A student cannot request an Active membership until he has passed his Degree in Orthopaedics.

Can I change from an Active membership to an Associate membership?

If you are 39 years of age or less and wish to change your membership status from Active to Associate, this is possible.

You can do so by changing your status on the “Membership Information” tab in your SICOT profile or contact the SICOT HO ([email protected]) for assistance. Please note that when doing such a change, you will be asked to provide an official identity document (birth certificate, passport scan,…) containing your full name and date of birth to ensure you meet the pre-requisites to be an Associate member.

What shall I do if I am not asked to pay the right rate (50/150 euros instead of 20/75 euros OR 20/75 euros instead of 50/150 euros.

If you have created a new profile, it is most likely that you did not select a membership status (Active or Associate) in the “Membership Information” tab. As a result, our system automatically gives you the Active Membership rate. Once the order has been created, only SICOT can change the rate to be paid. Therefore, please contact us at [email protected].

If you have not created a new profile, and the rate is wrong, it is most likely that you either have not selected a membership status (Active or Associate) in the “Membership Information” tab, either that the order was created before you have changed the membership status (Active or Associate). Once the order has been created, only SICOT can change the rate to be paid. Therefore, please contact us at [email protected].

Why am I asked to pay 20/50 euros one year and 75/150 euros the next year?

Each year, SICOT has “Friendship Nations”. The countries considered as such depend on the country the SICOT World Congress is in. This is the reason they change yearly. New members of these countries, for the year of the congress only, will be offered the preferential membership rate (20 euros for Associate memberships and 50 euros for Active memberships).

However, should you wish to continue your membership after that year, you will need to pay the normal membership rates (75 euros for Associate memberships and 150 euros for Active memberships).

Please note that this rate only applies to new members. If you are or have been a member, you will need to pay the normal membership rates (75 euros for Associate memberships and 150 euros for Active memberships).

More information about our Friendship Nations can be found on the webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot

Why do some members pay the preferential rate (20 or 50 euros) and others the normal rate (75 or 150 euros)?

Members living in one of the low-income earning countries (listed on the “Join SICOT” webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot) or new members living in one of the Friendship Nations country (listed on the “Join SICOT” webpage: http://www.sicot.org/join-sicot) can benefit from the preferential rates.

All other members (new or not) need to pay the normal membership rate.

Once I have paid, how long will it take for my membership to be activated?

Once you have paid, if you are not a new member, it will take up to 24 working hours for SICOT to reactivate your profile

If you are a new member, once the requested documents proving you are an Orthopaedics surgeon or student have been received by SICOT, it will take up to 2 weeks for your membership to be approved. Once your membership has been approved and your member profile has been activated, you will receive a welcome email on the email address from your profile.

I cannot pay my membership dues. What should I do?

If you do not get an error message, but the payment does not go through, please contact your bank. They are most likely blocking the transaction for security reasons. You need to ask them to let the payment through.

If you get an error message, it is probably that the order got cancelled. In that case, SICOT needs to un-cancel it. Please email us at [email protected].

What payment methods are accepted?

For online payments, SICOT accepts Visas, MasterCard, Maestro and Paypal.

If you wish to pay by bank transfer, this is also possible. However, as you will have to pay all extra charges for this transfer, there will be additional costs than just the membership amount.

SICOT therefore recommends to pay online to avoid the dues being more costly.

To access the bank details, once you renew your dues in your profile, they will be given to you as well as the message to add to your transfer. It is important to use this message so that we can identify this payment as being yours. If not enough details are given in the communication of the bank transfer (ie: SICOT dues), we cannot guarantee being able to identify this payment as being yours. In this case, you will need to write us ([email protected]) and provide the bank transfer document so that we can identify your payment with success.

I have paid my membership dues but I cannot access the IO Journal online or register to the congress with member rates. Why is this?

If you are a new member, please send SICOT the requested documents to get your membership approved by the National Delegate of your country. The documents are mentioned on the payment confirmation email. A separate email will also be sent within the next 24 working hours about this. Once SICOT receives the documents, it can take up to 2 weeks for your membership to be approved or refused. Once your profile has been activated, you will receive a welcome email. You will then have access to the online version of the IO, receive the paper version of the IO Journal monthly, be able to apply for a Fellowship (If you meet the pre-requisites) and register to the congress with lower member registration rates.

I wanted an Associate Membership, but I paid for an Active Membership. What shall I do?

If you have paid for an Active membership (50/150 euros instead of 20/75 euros), we can either transfer the excess payment to future year(s) dues or to your congress registration (should you attend it). Please write to us at [email protected] to get this sorted.

I wanted an Active Membership, but I paid for an Associate Membership. What shall I do?

If you are 40 years of age or more and have paid for an Associate membership (20/75 euros instead of 50/150 euros), SICOT will send you a link to complete your payment to the Active membership rate. Your payment will remain as “partially paid” until you complete it. Until fully paid, you cannot benefit from the advantages of the being a SICOT member.

If you are 39 years of age or less and wish to change your membership from Associate to Active, please contact us at [email protected]. SICOT will send you a link to complete your payment to the Active membership rate. Your payment will then remain as “partially paid” until you complete it. Until fully paid, you cannot benefit from the advantages of the being a SICOT member.

If I am 40 years of age or more but still in training, can I get an Associate membership?

Normally, you cannot benefit from the Associate membership once you are 40 years of age or more. Even if still in training. However, this can be decided on a case-to-case basis. You can write to SICOT about this ([email protected]).

How can I know for sure if my payment has reached SICOT?

If you have paid online (by Visas, MasterCard, Maestro or Paypal), once the payment has gone through, you will receive a confirmation of payment from Ogone (our online payment system). You will also receive a paid invoice from SICOT in the upcoming days on the email address inputted in your SICOT profile.

If you have paid by bank transfer, please note that the transfer can take several day (maximum 2 weeks) to reflect in our bank account. SICOT cannot influence this time period as this depends on the banks. Once the payment has reached SICOT’s bank account, you will receive a paid invoice from SICOT in the upcoming days on the email address inputted in your SICOT profile.

I cannot remember my password and/or username. What shall I do?

If you cannot remember your username, please write us at [email protected] and we will give you this information.

If you cannot remember your password, you can use the “Request a new password” button on the login page of the SICOT website. A link will be sent to the email address inputted in your SICOT profile and this link (only usable once and for 24 hours) will enable you to change your password and access your profile. Please change your password to one of your own once logged in as you will not be able to use the link a second time. If you have trouble accessing your profile even with the link, please write us at [email protected] and we will gladly help you.

I am not an Orthopaedics surgeon, but I am interested in Orthopaedics and/or Traumatology. Can I apply?

The SICOT memberships are normally only for Orthopaedics surgeons, trainees or students in Orthopaedics. However, this can be decided on a case-to-case basis. Please write us at [email protected] to motivate your interest.

How can I change the details in my SICOT profile?

To edit any information from your profile, except your username, please log into your profile and once logged in click on “Edit”. You will then be able to modify your profile details. Don’t forget to save the changes once done (the “Save” button can be found at the bottom of the webpage).

Are there lower rates for students?

There is no other rate than the Active and Associate Membership. Students can only apply for the Associate Membership.

Can companies apply for a membership?

The SICOT memberships are only for individual doctors. A company can create a profile and pay the dues for a surgeon, but not for a company. The profile must be in the name of the doctor, not in the name of the company.

Will I get a paid invoice?

Within 7 days of SICOT receiving your dues payment, an invoice will be sent to the email address from your profile. If a detail needs changing on the paid invoice or if you have not received it (and it is not in your spams), please write us at [email protected].

Fellowships

I have a question about the SICOT Fellowships and cannot find the answer in the FAQs or on the website ([email protected]). Where can I write?

You can write us at the SICOT Fellowships Secretariat at [email protected] and we will gladly help you.

Who can apply for a SICOT fellowships?

To apply to our fellowships, please make sure you meet the pre-requisites. The recurring ones for all fellowships is the age limit (maximum 40 or 45 years of age) and that your need to have paid your dues 2 years in a row (the year of the application deadline and the year before).

The other pre-requisites are different from one fellowship to the other. Therefore, please carefully read the advert for the fellowship you are interested in, make sure you meet the remaining pre-requisites and you send us the requested documents.

If your application is not complete, the SICOT Fellowships Secretariat will send you an email mentioning the missing documents.

If you are not eligible, the SICOT Fellowships Secretariat will inform you (giving you the reason).

If I am above the age limit, but still in training, can I apply?

We are afraid that if you are above the age limit of 40/45 years of age, you will not be eligible for a SICOT fellowship.

When can I apply?

You need to apply before the deadline, if there is one. The fellowship needs to be opened for your application to be taken into account. Any applications sent for a fellowship that is closed at the time at which the SICOT Fellowships Secretariat receives the application will not be taken into account.

How do I know if my application is in order?

If you have applied for a fellowship and your application is in order, the SICOT Fellowships Secretariat will send you a confirmation email.

If the application deadline has passed but your application is not in order, the SICOT Fellowships Secretariat will send you a reminder email with a 48 hours’ deadline to complete your application. If your application is not complete by the given deadline, it will not be included in the selection process.

Please note that you can only be offered a fellowship once every 2 years: you cannot apply for a fellowship the year you were offered the fellowship and the year after. If you apply for a fellowship but have gotten one less than 2 years ago, your application will be refused.

I was awarded a fellowship, but I need to cancel for personal reasons. What are the consequences?

When applying for a fellowship, you are expected to be sure to attend. However, we understand that some unexpected emergencies can occur.

If you decide to cancel your fellowship, the first thing to do is to inform your host and the SICOT Fellowships Secretariat ([email protected]). The consequence(s) of a cancellation will be decided on a case-to-case basis. This could lead to SICOT not allowing you to apply again for a fellowship for 2 years and not covering any expenses already done related to the fellowship.

Does SICOT offer financial assistance for the fellowships? How much and for what?

SICOT or the host center will offer financial assistance. As they differ from one fellowship to the other, the best is to read the details about this on the website advert for the fellowship you are interested in.

Please note that SICOT will only cover the travelling and/or accommodation costs related to the fellowship. SICOT will not cover personal expenses (such as food, internet, phone, tourism…).

How can I claim the refund?

The reimbursement will be done after your fellowship. You can write to the SICOT Fellowships Secretariat ([email protected]) to ask the expense form.

For the refund, please note that we will need:
- the expense form, filled and signed;
- paid invoices of the expenses, with your name and the paid amount (any expense with no ticket will not be reimbursed);
- a 2-3 pages long report of your experience.

Please note that Belgian laws do not allow us to refund an expense with no proper proof. SICOT needs a paid invoice (with your name, the date of the expense, the paid amount and the reason of it) or the ticket you receive when making a payment by card (the date of the expense, the paid amount and the reason of it). Without a proper document, SICOT can refuse any expense (including hand-written documents).

Diploma Examination

I have a question about the SICOT Diploma Examination and cannot find the answer in the FAQs or on the website. Where can I write?

You can write us at the SICOT Exams secretariat at [email protected] and we will gladly help you.

Who can apply to the SICOT Diploma Examination?

To be eligible for the SICOT Diploma Examination, you need to be a SICOT member (yearly dues must be paid), you need to have at least 4 years of medical practice since obtaining your medical degree and you need to be actively engaged in an orthopaedic training programme. You also need to send the SICOT Exams secretariat an up-to-date CV and a letter from your supervisor.

More details about the application and the Diploma Examination can be found on the Congress “SICOT Diploma Examination” webpage.

How do I know if my application is in order?

If you have applied for the SICOT Diploma Examination and your application is in order, the SICOT Exams secretariat will send you a confirmation email.

If the application deadline has passed but your application is not in order, the SICOT Exams secretariat will send you a reminder email with a 48 hours’ deadline to complete your application. If your application is not completed by the given deadline, it will not be included in the selection process.

How do I know if I am selected?

If you are selected for the SICOT Diploma Examination, the SICOT Exams secretariat will send you an email by the given notification deadline with a link to pay for your participation to the exam.

Please note that if you have not paid the registration fee for the exam by the given deadline, your seat will be given to the next person in the waiting list.

I cannot pay my exam fees.

If I am not selected, can I be put in a waiting list?

If you are not selected but you are eligible, SICOT will automatically put you in the waiting list and you will receive an email informing you of this. Should you not wish to be put in the waiting list, please let us know by informing us at [email protected].

If I am in the waiting list, when will I know if I get a seat?

SICOT cannot give you a date at which you will know if you have a seat or not, as this depends on possible cancellations and whether or not selected candidates pay their exam fees by the given deadline. SICOT will then offer their seat to the next person in the waiting list.

Can I cancel or postpone my participation to the SICOT Diploma Examination?

You may cancel your participation to the SICOT Diploma Examination. However, you need to do this within the given deadline. To know these dates and the refunded amount, please consult our cancellation policies on the exam webpage.

You may postpone your participation to the SICOT Diploma Examination only once and only to the next year. However, you need to do this within the given deadline. To know these dates and the refunded amount, please consult our cancellation policies on the Congress “SICOT Diploma Examination” webpage.

Is the registration to the congress included in the SICOT Diploma Examination fees?

Registration to the congress is not included in the SICOT Diploma Examination fees. If you wish to attend the congress, you will need to register for it.

Congress registrations

I have a question about the SICOT Congress registrations and cannot find the answer in the FAQs or on the website. Where can I write?

You can write us at the SICOT Congress Secretariat at [email protected] and we will gladly help you.

How much is the congress registration fees?

SICOT offers different registration rates, depending on whether or not you are a member and depending on the time at which you register. You can find all our registration rates on the SICOT Congress “Registration” webpage.

To have access to member rates, you need to have paid your yearly dues and be logged into your member profile. For new members, your membership needs to be approved to access these member rates.

SICOT offers students a lower registration rate (non-member trainee). However, the pre-requisites for this is to be under 40 years of age and to still be in training. For SICOT to approve your registration as a trainee, please upload in your registration a scan of an identity document (passport, birth certificate…) containing your name and date of birth and a recently dated and hand-signed letter from your Head of Department confirming you are in training. If you do not send these documents or the right ones, SICOT can ask you to pay the non-member rate (after having emailed you to get the correct documents).

What am I entitled to when paying the congress registration fees?

By paying the congress registration, you have free access to all the scientific sessions on the three congress days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), the exhibition area, the e-poster area and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

If you wish to attend the International Course on Polytrauma Management, the Educational Day, a Cadaver Lab or a social event, you will need to purchase one or more tickets for this.

More information can be found on the Congress “Registration” webpage.

How can I register to the congress with member rates?

To register to the congress with member rates, you need to be a member in good standing (and have your membership approved for new members) and to be logged into your member profile. Please make sure you pay your membership dues by the given deadlines. These dates can be found on the Congress “Registration” webpage (under “Non-Members”).  Once you have paid your dues, if you are not a new member, please note that it can take up to 24 working hours for the member option of your profile to be reactivated. For new members, it can take up to 2 weeks for your membership to be approved.

I have paid my dues, but only the non-member rate appears on the online registration form. Why is this?

There can be two reasons for this:

1) If you are not a new member, it will take SICOT up to 24 working hours to reactivate the member option of your profile. Without this being activated, you will not be able to register to the congress. If you renew your dues after the given deadline, please note that SICOT can refuse to let you register as a member for the congress. Therefore, to avoid uncomfortable situations, please read the information on our website carefully and make sure you meet the deadlines. These dates can be found on the Congress “Registration” webpage (under “Non-Members”).
If you are a new member, we need to receive the requested documents by the given deadline. Indeed, as it takes up to 2 weeks to get your profile activated, if you send SICOT the documents after the deadline, your membership might not be activated in time for you to register by the desired registration deadline. If you pay your dues and/or send the documents to get your membership approved after the given deadline, please note that SICOT can refuse to let you register as a member for the congress. Therefore, to avoid uncomfortable situations, please read the information on our website carefully and make sure you meet the deadlines. These dates can be found on the Congress “Registration” webpage (under “Non-Members”).

2) You are not logged into your member profile. Indeed, the system will only recognize you as a member if logged into your member profile.

I have registered to the congress but want to add an item. How can I do this?

If you have already registered to the congress and paid your order, you can log back into your profile and add any item you wish to.

I have registered to the congress but want to delete an item. How can I do this?

If you have already registered to the congress and have not paid your order, you can log back into your profile and delete any item you wish to.

I have paid my membership dues and/or sent the documents after the given deadline. If I still want to register by the desired deadline (Early or Regular) as a non-member, what shall I do?

In this case, please write to the SICOT Congress Secretariat ([email protected]) to inform us of this. We will transfer your membership dues to your congress registration and send you an online payment link to complete the payment for your congress registration. The payment must be completed by the registration deadline.

I have paid my membership dues and/or send the documents after the given deadline. If I still want to register as a member to the congress, what shall I do?

If you still wish to register to the congress as a member, you will be able to but with the next registration deadline (if you have missed the Early registration deadline, you will be able to register during the Regular registration period; if you have missed the Regular registration deadline, you will be able to register during the On-site registration period).

If you have paid your dues and/or sent the documents after the deadline to become a member for the On-site rate, then you will not be able to register to the congress on-site with member rates. In this case, if you wish, SICOT can transfer your membership dues to your congress registration. You will only need to complete your payment on-site.

I want to register a group. Does SICOT offer a discount?

SICOT offers a 10% discount for groups of 10 or more surgeons on the total amount to be paid. Please note that once a group is created, it is not possible to add any further participants. A new group with the new participants needs to be created. If this new group does not reach at least 10 members, SICOT will not be able to offer the 10% discount.

How can I register a group?

To register a group, you must create a company profile (under the question "creating a corporate account?" you must select yes). If this is not done, you will not be able to purchase several registrations. Once the payment of the group has been done, you will receive an email with the same number of coupons than of registrations you have bought. You need to give the coupons (that can also be found in the Home area of the company profile) to each participants. They will then need to register themselves for free to the congress using the coupon in a non-company profile (under the question "creating a corporate account?" they must select no) in their own name.

If you wish to register the delegates on their behalf, you need to do:

- create a non-company profile (under the question "creating a corporate account?" you must select no; this is very important otherwise you will not be able to use the coupon) in the name of the participant. We kindly ask you to put the participant’s email address as this is how we will be contacting him and sending him his certificates after the congress;
- once the  profile is created, please go to the online registration form;
- once on the form, please select a payment method even if there will be no payment. But this is a mandatory field;
- please do not select any box in the list of items for the congress. Scroll down directly at the bottom of the page where a box to upload the coupon can be found;
- put the coupon in the field for this and click on update. An automatically ticked box with a free registration will appear at the end of the list of items for the congress;
- click on "send registration";
- you will come to a payment page where they will ask you how you want to pay for "0 euros", you can close the registration.

You're done!

You can also find a guide with images and instructions in your company profile on your Home page (to access it, please log into your profile and once logged in, click on your username at the top right of the screen).

I have registered and paid for the congress, but I want to cancel my registration partially or entirely. Can I do this?

If you wish to entirely cancel your congress registration, please see our cancellation policies on the Congress “Registration” webpage. Indeed, SICOT allows refunds up to a certain amount until a certain date. If you ask for the refund later than the given deadline, we are afraid you will not be refunded. To avoid losing the money, a colleague may take over your registration and attend in your place. As SICOT needs to process a names change (for a charge of 50 euros), if within the authorized deadline, please contact the SICOT Congress Secretariat at [email protected].

If you wish to cancel some items from your congress registration (International Course on Polytrauma Management, Educational Day or social events), please see our cancellation policies on the Congress “Registration” webpage. Indeed, SICOT allows refunds until a certain date. If you ask for the refund later than the given deadline, we are afraid you will not be refunded. If you request the refund within the allowed dates, SICOT will refund the item(s) but will retain a charge of 35 euros.

I can no longer come. Can one of my colleagues get my registration?

SICOT does process name changes. For a fee of 50 euros, we can transfer your entire registration to your colleague. Please note that changing the name in your profile to that of your colleague’s will not enable you to make the name change for free, as the registration order was issued in your name. If you do this, your colleague will not be recognized in our system as a pre-registered participant and he will not be allowed to make a name change on-site anymore. Your colleague will need to register on-site with the same rate.

I am asked to pay the wrong rate. What shall I do?

If you are asked to pay a rate that is not the one you believe you should pay (for example if you registered as a non-member, then renewed your dues, your congress registration order will still show the non-member registration rate, only SICOT can change this manually), please write to the SICOT Congress Secretariat ([email protected]). We will make the relevant changes.

I have paid the wrong rate. What shall I do?

Please write to the SICOT Congress Secretariat ([email protected]) if you believe you have paid a wrong rate. SICOT will verify this and if you have indeed paid more than you should, SICOT will offer you a solution regarding this excess payment.

I have registered for the Educational Day and/or the International Course on Polytrauma Management, but I have been accepted for the SICOT Diploma Examination. Can I get a refund for the Educational Day and/or International Course on Polytrauma Management?

These requests will be considered on a case-to-case basis. If you are in this situation, please write us immediately to the SICOT Congress Secretariat ([email protected]). If you write us late, SICOT can refuse to refund entirely or partially these events.

I have registered for the Educational Day and/or the International Course on Polytrauma Management, but I had not realized they were on the same day. Can I get a refund for the Educational Day or International Course on Polytrauma Management?

These requests will be considered on a case-to-case basis. If you are in this situation, please write us immediately to the SICOT Congress Secretariat ([email protected]). If you write us late, SICOT can refuse to refund entirely or partially on of these events.

I wish to attend the Educational Day and the International Course on Polytrauma Management. Am I allowed to do this?

You can register and attend both events. However, it might be more interesting and enlightening for you to attend only one event fully than both partially.

Who can attend the congress?

Anyone having registered (and paid) for the congress can enter the congress venue during the scientific sessions. Please note that the congress registration do not include the Educational Day, the International Course on Polytrauma Management, the Cadaver Labs or the Social Events. These are extras you need to register to.

My wife wants to attend my presentation. Is there an accompanying person’s badge?

We are afraid SICOT does not offer an accompanying person’s badge. If someone (a relative, a friend, a colleague…) wants to watch only your presentation, (s)he will need to be registered to the congress to enter the congress venue during the scientific sessions.

Who can attend the Opening and Closing Ceremonies?

Anyone can attend the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. These ceremonies are open to all for free. Therefore, if you are registered to the congress but not your wife/relative/friend/colleague, (s)he can attend these ceremonies with you without being registered to the congress.

Who can attend the social events?

To attend one or both social events, you must be registered to the congress or come to the event(s) with someone registered to the congress. As a congress participant, you can buy a total of two tickets (one for yourself and one for your accompanying person). If you wish to buy more than two tickets to the social event(s), please write to the SICOT Congress Secretariat at [email protected] and we will consider the requests on a case-to-case basis.

Can my children attend the social events?

Our social events can be noisy and crowded and can end late. We therefore do not encourage young children to attend them. However, if you still wish to bring your child(ren) along, please write to the SICOT Congress Secretariat at [email protected] and we will consider this on a case-to-case basis.

Can I register on-site for any extras?

You can register on-site for the Educational Day, the International Course on Polytrauma Management, the Cadaver Labs and the Social Events. However, as seats are limited, SICOT cannot guarantee you a ticket for these extras. To be sure to attend these events, SICOT recommends that you register online before the congress within the deadlines.

SICOT cannot reserve you a seat, unless it is paid.

Until when can I make changes to my registration?

You can make changes to your registration until a given deadline. For more information, please refer to the cancellation policies on our Congress “Registration” webpage.

Can I register to all Cadaver Labs?

You can only register to one lab per topic (for example, you can register to the Cadaver Lab on Shoulder and Knee, but not to two Cadaver Labs on Knee/Shoulder). Indeed, SICOT wishes to offer as many of its participants as possible a possibility to attend these labs. In addition, please note that as the labs on the same topic will all be the same, it will not bring you anything to attend two labs on the same topic.

Will I receive a badge by email before the congress?

A few days prior to the starting date of the congress, you will receive an email with a code to print your badge on-site. This is the reason why it is very important that the email you input in our profile is yours and is correct. If you have not received it, we can still print your ticket on-site manually. An identity document will then need to be provided as a proof.
