2017 Cape Town Congress

Cape Town Congress report

  Doron Frantzen
SICOT National Delegate of South Africa and Cape Town Congress President - Pretoria, South Africa

As we are all looking forward to the 39th SICOT meeting in Montreal upcoming October, I wish to extend my gratitude to everyone who helped to make the SICOT Cape Town meeting such a success.

With just over 2,600 registrations for the Cape Town Congress, delegates from all over the world attended this prestigious event at the foot of Table Mountain.

The Educational Day on “The Hip” was well attended by both trainees and qualified surgeons. The academic programme with keynote speakers of note and distinguished invited guest speakers enriched delegates, whether resident or educator, with up to date and beyond knowledge in orthopaedic surgery. Multiple symposia in all subspecialties showed a lot of interest by attendees.

The trade from all over the world supported our Congress contributing to the success we had. Interaction between the companies and the attending surgeons received great feedback.

It was as always good to catch up with old friends and colleagues again. These Congresses are a perfect opportunity to meet new friends and people with similar interests.

A great appreciation to the hard working teams that made all of this possible!

From South Africa I would like to thank you all for your attendance in Cape Town and hope to see you all again in Montreal later this year.
