Less than two months remain before our next Scientific Meeting in Pattaya.
It is time for those who have not registered yet to do so, as it will have an exceptional scientific programme, in addition to the social and cultural events at a wonderful beach resort. The main topics in orthopaedic surgery and in bone trauma will be covered.
This year, the Conference will be a combined meeting with the Royal College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of Thailand (RCOST), which has organised an extra course on the first day, October 29, devoted to specific international symposia and educational lectures. This Pre-Conference Course is free and open to all participants.
Five plenary speakers will update your knowledge on the most current fields. S. Bavonratanavech from Thailand will present the "Evolution of trauma surgery", S. Kokubun will share his experience on the increasing indication of "Spine surgeries in the aging society" and M. Krismer will comment on the in-fashion approach of the hip "A direct anterior approach for hip arthroplasty â technique, potential, and critical valuation".
Two plenary lectures will include an evidence based medicine review by J. Morcuende on "Non-operative treatment of clubfeet: what's the evidence?" and by G. Thompson "Pediatric pelvic osteotomies: indications, contraindications and techniques".
Symposia will be focused on arthroplasty, spine and trauma. No less than 67 invited speakers, selected among the best experts, will be presenting during the symposia or before the free papers sessions.
This year, we received 1,023 abstracts, among which 336 oral presentations and 667 posters were selected. The presenters will be coming from 75 different countries.
The most represented topics in the free papers sessions will be arthroplasty of the hip and knee, general trauma with a specific focus on foot trauma organised by the Trauma Committee, paediatrics and spine. Fundamental and clinical research will not be forgotten and a symposium on vascularised composite tissue allotransplantation has been included in the programme. All paediatric sessions have been organised with IFPOS (International Federation of Paediatric Orthopaedic Societies) and will be held on Saturday, 31 October.
Lunch workshops and an evening symposium will be held by the main medical companies and will provide you with information on new techniques and instrumentation. More details about the scientific programme are available on the SICOT website.
