Governance Council

Philippe Hernigou

Chair

The SICOT Governance Council plays a vital role in ensuring that the Society operates in accordance with the highest standards of governance, accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct. As one of the four principal pillars of SICOT’s organisational structure, alongside the Education Academy, Research Academy, and Finance Council, the Governance Council supports the effective management and long-term sustainability of the Society.

The Council oversees and promotes good governance practices across SICOT’s committees, councils, and leadership bodies. It provides guidance on constitutional matters, policies, procedures, organisational structure, strategic planning, and succession planning, helping to ensure that SICOT remains a modern, efficient, and globally representative organisation.

Through collaboration with SICOT’s leadership and committees, the Governance Council works to strengthen organisational effectiveness, encourage transparency in decision-making, and support the Society’s mission of advancing orthopaedic education, research, and patient care worldwide. By fostering sound governance principles, the Council helps ensure that SICOT continues to serve its members and the international orthopaedic community with integrity and excellence.
