A booth to boost SICOT: a key success factor to enhance relationships with the national association and to promote SICOT

Dr Thami Benzakour
Chairman of the Membership Committee

On 16 and 17 April 2009, the annual Congress of the Moroccan Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SMACOT) was held in Casablanca. Among the various topics covered during this Congress, the main symposia were on:

  • Upper limb trauma and palsies;
  • Aseptic necrosis of the femoral head;
  • Fractures of the distal extremity of the femur.

This meeting gathered nearly 500 participants from about 15 countries from Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the United States.

As usual, SICOT Morocco had a permanent booth in the exhibition hall. During the three days of the meeting, visitors to our stand were provided with plenty of information on SICOT activities (congresses, conferences, Education Centres, Telediagnostic, membership application process, and so on).

I was invited to this Congress on behalf of SICOT and was awarded a commemorative plate. I offered two copies of the SICOT 75th Anniversary Book to the SMACOT President, Dr Samir Karrakchou, and to the SMACOT Congress President, Dr J.D. El Ahmadi.

It is strongly believed that holding a SICOT booth during the national and regional orthopaedic meetings is a key success factor for bringing to the fore all SICOT activities, increasing membership, and enhancing relationships with national associations, thus enabling a crucial development of global orthopaedic knowledge and care throughout the world.
