SICOT Education Centres

SICOT launched its first Education Centre in January 2004 in Lahore, Pakistan. The second Centre was opened in Assiut, Egypt, in 2007. Education Centres in Havana (Cuba), São Paulo (Brazil), Lagos (Nigeria), and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) were also approved by the International Council in 2008.

To qualify for an Education Centre the local counterpart (hospital, university, etc.) is requested to provide a physical place to host the Centre and to guarantee that it will be maintained in good operating condition. SICOT will supply the equipment and educational material for the Centre (books, CD-ROMs, journals) as well as visiting surgeons. SICOT Education Centres will take advantage of the existing network of SICOT Telediagnostic centres in order to set up its future Education Centres.
