On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to the SICOT 2011 XXV Triennial World Congress taking place in Prague on 6-9 September 2011.

Amongst more than 600 accepted oral presentations and over 700 e-posters, the Congress offers a variety of additional scientific formats. As a continuation of educational activities such as Plenary Lectures, Special Symposia, and further educational activities, we are also offering Congress participants Instructional Courses dealing with a variety of different specialised topics. Read more...

SICOT 2011 XXV Triennial World Congress

  • Scientific Programme 

The allocated presentation time during free paper sessions is six minutes, plus an extra two minutes for discussion. The scientific programme is subject to change and the final date, time, and session will be announced shortly. Please visit the SICOT website for updates.

E-posters: Only those authors who received a confirmation of their registration and payment from the SICOT Congress Secretariat by 15 June 2011 received a link to upload their e-poster file. The links were sent on 24 June 2011 to all registered authors presenting e-posters. Please check your spam/junk mail folder if you did not receive an email. The deadline for uploading your file is 25 July 2011.

  • SICOT Educational Day 2011

The SICOT Educational Day is a new initiative undertaken by the SICOT Young Surgeons Committee. The aim of this day is to provide a comprehensive review course for residents and an evidence-based update for practicing surgeons on a specific theme at each SICOT meeting. The theme is selected in such a way that it is mutually beneficial to the residents in their exams and to the orthopaedic surgeons in their daily practice.

The theme chosen for this year is 'The Hip'. Great teachers from around the world are being brought together to lecture on their area of expertise. Read more...

  • SICOT Education Centre in Moscow

One of the most awaited historical events in Russian Orthopaedics & Traumatology, the official inauguration of the SICOT Education Centre, took place on 28 April 2011 at the M.F. Vladimirskiy Moscow Regional Clinical and Research Institute (MONIKI). It was inaugurated by Prof Onoprienko Gennadiy Alekseevich, Director of MONIKI, Prof Voloshin Victor Parfentevich, Chief Orthopaedist and Traumatologist of the Moscow Region, Prof Cody Bünger, President of SICOT, and Prof Tomas Trc, SICOT Vice President for Europe. First experiences with negative pressure wound therapy and instillation in the treatment of infected orthopaedic implants: a clinical observational study

  • Case of the Month

 A 49-year-old male patient was presented to our out-patient department with persistent pain in his left upper ankle joint after suffering a high-ankle sprain two weeks earlier. In 2006 and 2007 a radiosynovectomy of the ankle joint was performed due to a suspected rheumatic synovitis. This resulted in pain relief and normal function.

Physical examination of the left ankle joint revealed massive swelling and tenderness of the lateral ankle, restricted motion due to pain (20/0/10°). No pain during pro / supination.

Hygia Cast

Comprised of a knitted polyester of fiberglass fabric impregnated with polyurethane resin. Finished casts produced from HYGIA Cast are lightweight, strong, radiolucent, and porous.

Hygia Splint

Intended for use in the construction of common orthopedic splints. It consists
of multiple layers of a knitted polyester fabric, impregnated
with polyurethane resin. It is covered on both sides.

Yogips

New and unique splinting materials are made out of thermoplastic panels which
melt at about 90°C (190°F)
and harden in five minutes.
