SICOT Diploma Examination

General information

The ninth SICOT Diploma Examination took place in Prague, Czech Republic, on 5 and 6 September 2011 and consisted of a written part and an oral part.

The written part comprised of 100 multiple choice questions based on the Hyperguide and lasted two hours. The subjects questioned were in the following categories:

    • General Orthopaedics
    • Trauma
    • Paediatrics
    • Pathology
    • Sports Medicine
    • Hand
    • Basic Sciences

The oral part, also lasting two hours, was held on the same day. Each candidate was examined by two examiners in each of the four major subjects:

    • Adult Orthopaedics and Pathology (30 minutes)
    • Trauma (30 minutes)
    • Paediatrics and Hand (30 minutes)
    • Basic Sciences (30 minutes)

Ahmed Abdel-Azeem and Praveen Sharda were granted the German SICOT Fellowship, which offers them the opportunity to visit well-known German orthopaedic centres for a period of four weeks. The fellowship is kindly provided by the German Section of SICOT.


 

Eligibility requirements

Candidates must:

  • have provided their CV;
  • have provided a letter from their Head of Department specifying that they have had 4 years of medical practice since obtaining their medical degree and that they are actively engaged in an orthopaedic training programme;
  • be members of SICOT or in the process of applying for membership at the time of registration. For more information about SICOT membership application, please click here.

A judging panel has reviewed all applications and reserves the right to refuse any application. The number of places available is limited to 36.

In order to be considered eligible, the SICOT Head Office must have received at hq@sicot.org the online registration form, CV, letter from the candidate's Head of Department, and SICOT membership application form (unless already a SICOT member). Please note that SICOT membership is only confirmed upon receipt of payment in full.
    

Payment

Only the 36 candidates whose Diploma Examination application was selected have been asked to pay the registration fee. The registration fee for the exam does NOT include Prague congress registration.

   
Cancellation policy

  • Cancellations received from 15 May 2011 to 31 May 2011 will secure a refund of 70% of the total amount paid.
  • Cancellations received from 1 June 2011 to 14 June 2011 will secure a refund of 50% of the total amount paid.
  • No refund will be made under any circumstances for cancellations received on or after 15 June 2011.
