SICOT Telediagnostic

www.sicot.org/telediag

The SICOT Telediagnostic is a project operated mostly by volunteers, allowing a medical officer (an orthopaedic surgeon) to transmit via the Internet a medical file containing images from a distant location to a medical secretariat in Brussels. Once received, the file is reviewed to determine the speciality concerned and an e-mail is sent to a consultation centre where a highly qualified orthopaedic surgeon reviews it and issues an opinion or an advice which is added to the web file. The consulting person can then read the opinions by surfing on the SICOT Telediagnostic webpage.

Each centre can request or offer advice. Three different actions are possible: creation of a clinical file, dispatching of the file, reading and commenting. Prior authorisation must be obtained by potential participating centres in order to perform one of the above-mentioned roles.

The 21 existing centres are located in Aarhus (Denmark), Assiut (Egypt), Brussels (Belgium), Budapest (Hungary), Casablanca (Morocco), Charleroi (Belgium), Dakar (Senegal), Douala (Cameroon), Fort-de-France (Martinique), Gdansk (Poland), Hong Kong (China), Kingston (Canada), Kinshasa (Congo), Lahore (Pakistan), London (United Kingdom), Ludhiana (India), Montreal (Canada), Nairobi (Kenya), Port-au-Prince (Haiti), Vienna (Austria) and Yaounde (Cameroon), thus offering a far-reaching network of volunteers who can exchange medical information at will.

The SICOT Telediagnostic application is now open to all SICOT members.

As a SICOT member, you can log in to this application with your usual credentials.

If you need any assistance with the application, please feel free to send an e-mail to hq@sicot.org.
